NRMLA Announces Annual Reverse Mortgage Conference Details

image The National Reverse Mortgage Lenders Association (NRMLA) recently announced that its 2009 Annual Meeting & Expo will be held in San Diego, CA.  The conference is scheduled for November 18-20 and will be at the Manchester Grand Hyatt.

There is a great line up of speakers but I’m looking forward to the keynote from the newly appointed Assistant Secretary for Housing/Federal Housing Administration Commissioner, David Stevens.  He has over 26 years of experience in the mortgage industry with a range of companies including, Long & Foster, Freddie Mac, World Savings, and Wells Fargo.

Below are other topics and speakers to look forward to:

  • State legislative and regulatory updates, featuring Chuck Cross, from the Conference of State Bank Supervisors, and Cindy Fazio, legal counsel for the Division of Consumer Services at the Dept. of Financial Institutions in Washington state. Chuck will focus on the ramifications of the SAFE Act, while Cindy Fazio will discuss the new reverse mortgage law adopted by Washington state and implementation of the new reverse mortgage exam guidelines published by CSBS and the American Association of Residential Mortgage Regulators.
  • Sandy Timmermann, Director of the Mature Market Institute and Barb Stucki, from NCOA, will discuss the role of home equity as part of a broader financial plan for seniors. We’re still sorting out the discussion points, but these are two prominent individuals from the aging space, which we’re honored to have coming.
  • Wide array of marketing sessions, including one that focuses on new cell phone technology called The phone is your office: How the next generation will alter the way you conduct business. We’re trying to bring in more people from outside the industry, who can offer new and interesting perspectives.

See you in San Diego!
