CFPB Announces Three New Senior Leadership Positions

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau announced this week it is naming several new senior leadership roles within the organization.

The agency has announced new assistant directors for the Office of Research; the Office of Financial Empowerment; and theOffice of Installment and Liquidity Lending Markets.

Among the new leadership are Christopher Carroll, a professor of economics and member of the Board of Directors of the National Bureau of Economic Research, who will serve as Assistant Director of Financial Empowerment in the Bureau’s Consumer Education and Engagement Division. 

The Bureau also named Daniel Dodd-Ramirez, who served as the executive director of Step Up Savannah Inc. in Savannah, Ga., from 2005 to 2014 and as education project director and community organizer for People Acting for Community Together (PACT) in Miami, as Assistant Director of Financial Empowerment in the Bureau’s Consumer Education and Engagement Division. 

Finally, Jeffrey Langer, former senior counsel at Macy’s, Inc. and partner in several law firms to the position of Assistant Director of Installment and Liquidity Lending Markets in the Bureau’s Research, Markets, and Regulations Division. 

The agency’s director Richard Cordray welcomed the new additions in a statement Wednesday.

“I’m pleased that these incredibly talented individuals have joined the Bureau,” Director Cordray said. “All three offices play an essential role in making sure that consumers are being treated fairly. These experts will lead the teams that help us monitor the marketplace and provide tangible benefit to consumers.”
