Multifamily power: Trulia partners with ApartmentGuide parent on rental searches

Trulia (TRLA) will partner with PRIMEDIA, the parent company to ApartmentGuide.com. PRIMEDIA is currently the top marketing partner for multifamily apartment communities.

Upon this agreement, Apartment Guide’s collection of information and listings will be listed as exclusive multifamily inventory on Trulia. PRIMEDIA uses a number of channels to attract consumers to its large inventory of apartment community listings.

As a leader in mobile innovation, PRIMEDIA will also bring more mobile presence to Trulia. The Apartment Guide parent company was the first to develop apps in the rental market for iPhone, Android and Kindle Fire. This development resulted in more than 55% year-over-year growth in mobile downloads for the company.

Trulia continues to soar as well, with monthly rental visits jumping 130% year-over-year and rental inquiries up 200% year-over-year. Trulia’s mobile app also saw great success with more than 1 million downloads since November 2011.

“We are very excited to provide Trulia consumers access to Apartment Guide’s comprehensive selection of multifamily listings and high quality content across its Web and mobile platforms,” said Charles Stubbs, CEO of PRIMEDIA. “Partnering with Trulia, also a leader in the mobile space, is very exciting for our valued customers.”

This partnership will allow Trulia users to access photos and floor plans from more than 20,000 multifamily apartment communities and nearly 5 million units from ApartmentGuide.com, in addition it Trulia’s current rental inventory.

The partners also decided to form the Trulia-PRIMEDIA Network, which will allow Trulia to sell display advertising and other media products on behalf of PRIMEDIA.

“Today, Trulia is focused on providing the inside scoop about neighborhoods and places to live across the country. Our partnership with PRIMEDIA is a major step in solving the fragmentation of the rental market by linking Trulia’s quickly growing, transaction-ready audience with premiere rental inventory,” said Trulia CEO Pete Flint.
