Gateway First Bank brings on Peter Moenickheim as chief risk officer

Moenickheim will oversee company’s credit and risk management teams

Since merging with Farmers Exchange Bank to become Gateway First Bank (formerly Gateway Mortgage Group), the bank has made a series of high-level hires and appointments.

This included the promotion of Jeff Schmidt to chief mortgage operations officer and naming Bruce Schultz as its vice president and Community Reinvestment Act officer.

Now, Gateway First Bank has announced its latest appointment – Peter Moenickheim as its chief risk officer. In this role, Moenickheim will oversee the company’s credit and risk management teams. According to the company, his responsibilities will include all efforts in enterprise risk management, compliance, and quantitative analytics.

“With more than 20 years of professional experience in the banking, consumer finance and payments industries, Peter will be a key component to our executive team and our growth,” Gateway CEO Stephen Curry said. “He will play a strong role in the company as we continue to look for new ways to enhance our risk management initiatives.”

Moenickheim previously served as chief risk officer for Ocwen Financial, a mortgage servicer and originator. Prior to that role, he worked at Santander Consumer USA as chief risk officer and chief operational risk officer. Additionally, he has served in leadership roles for JPMorgan Chase and Nationwide Bank.

“I look forward to overseeing the bank’s risk management initiatives as Gateway continues a long tradition of success,” Moenickheim said. “The company is experiencing strong growth and momentum, and I’m excited to be a part of the very bright future of Gateway.”
