The Florida attorney general’s office issued subpoenas to two South Florida foreclosure law firms regarding business done with Lender Processing Services and LPS Default Solutions’ “Strategic Partnership Group.” The Fort Lauderdale firms of Ben-Ezra & Katz and the Law Offices of Marshall C. Watson received the subpoenas, which specifically request records that show a “pay-per-click” charge paid by the firm to Strategic Partnership Group. LPS, based in Jacksonville, formed the Strategic Partnership Group in August 2010 as a way to create a network of foreclosure-related service providers, including attorneys, title companies, and service of process companies to increase efficiency in the mortgage default business.
