Steve Abrahams, a 20-year veteran of structured finance, today joined Deutsche Bank as head of securitization and mortgage-backed securities (MBS) research. The position is a hybrid of two recent vacancies at the bank. The investment bank’s former head of securitization research, Karen Weaver, retired last month. The head of MBS research, Art Frank, also left recently. Abrahams formally worked at Citadel Capital Advisors, a firm he founded, as a managing director. He is perhaps best known for his time at Bear Stearns as Global Head of Liquid Product Strategy. Abrahams also served as a credit portfolio manager at Freddie Mac (FRE) and a senior analyst at Morgan Stanley (MS). The new position is based in New York and answers to Marcel Cassard, global head of macro and fixed income research. “Steve is a very well-known and respected securitization expert and we are thrilled to add him to our US team,” said Michele Faissola, managing director and global head of rates. “He is an industry veteran who has watched the securitization markets grow and evolve through several market cycles. This first-hand knowledge will further develop our market research and greatly benefit our institutional clients globally.” Write to Jacob Gaffney. The author holds no investments.
