After receiving multiple offers on the West Palm Beach, Florida home of convicted fraudster Bernard Madoff, United States Marshals sold the property for $5.65 million. It was on the market around 45 days. “Today’s sale marks another important step forward for the government and arrives at the heels of the second Madoff auction scheduled for November 13, 2010 in New York City,” said the United States Marshal for the Southern District of New York, Joseph Guccione. The United States Marshals Service administers the Department of Justice’s Asset Forfeiture Program by managing and disposing of properties seized and forfeited by federal law enforcement agencies and U.S. Attorneys nationwide. United States Marshals Service thanked LPS Asset Management Solutions, the Corcoran Group and Sotheby’s International Realty for their assisting in the sale. The Marshals Service currently manages approximately 18,000 assets with a value of more than $2 billion. Write to Jacob Gaffney.
