Bernanke, Ron Paul to face each other in final showdown

U.S. Congressman Ron Paul, R-TX, plans to have his last showdown with Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke when he testifies in front of the House Financial Services Committee Wednesday, the Houston Chronicle reported.

Bernanke is due back in front of Congress Tuesday for his first appearance before the U.S. Senate.

Rep. Paul, a long-time critic of the Federal Reserve, plans to retire at the end of the year, making this week his last chance to tackle the Fed as a secretive organization that holds back the U.S. economy.

Paul’s exchanges with Bernanke are legendary, and today is the last week Congressional watchers will be able to witness such an exchange.

Analysts are anticipating both sessions in front of Congress to see if Bernanke drops any hints of further quantitative easing.
