The American Land Title Association named industry veteran Christopher Abbinante president of the organization Monday. Abbinante will serve in the role for the 2011-2012 year. "It is a privilege to represent an industry whose purpose is to protect consumers against legal challenges to their homeownership," Abbinante said. "I am honored to serve as president of a growing and vibrant association, now representing more than 4,000 member companies." Abbinante launched his career in the title insurance industry back in 1975 while working at a small title agency. He previously served Fidelity National Title Group (FNF) as president of eastern operations, overseeing markets in the United States, Canada and Caribbean. In his current role, Abbinante oversees Fidelity's Canadian operations as well as operations located in the eastern and central parts of United States. He is a graduate of Loyola University, where he obtained a bachelor's degree in History. Abbinante also earned a juris doctorate and a master of laws from the John Marshall Law School. In 1985, he earned an MBA from the University of Chicago. Write to Kerri Panchuk.
