Urban Financial of America, LLC (UFA) has named Michael J. Weltman assistant vice president and sales manager for the company’s southern region, a region that covers southern California to Florida.
Weltman, who joined UFA in January, is a 13-year reverse mortgage and FHA lending veteran. Previously, he was a reverse mortgage sales manager with FirstBank and Wells Fargo.
He is also a board member and treasurer of the Mortgage Bankers Association of Tallahassee Florida; and services on the board of Wakulla Habitat for Humanity.
In his new role with Urban, Weltman reports to Sherry Apanay, managing director of sales.

His community involvement exemplifies two of UFA’s core values: teamwork and innovation,” said Apanay in a statement. “As a member of several boards and associations, Michael truly understands the meaning of these values. And his strong leadership skills and industry expertise will assist him in managing his team in the south.”
In addition to his extensive reverse mortgage experience and training, Weltman holds an MBA degree in finance and holds licenses in Florida as a Real Estate Instructor and Broker as well as a license with the Florida Division of Financial Services.
Additionally, Weltman has completed Seniors Real Estate Specialist training through the National Association of Realtors; Certified Aging in Place training through the National Association of Home Builders; and Certified Senior Advisor training through the Society of Certified Senior Advisors, and holds designations from each.
