Open Mortgage has announced the hire of Joe Morris, founder of Unity Mortgage and Generation Mortgage Company to be its senior vice president of reverse mortgage lending.
Morris, founder and COO of Unity Mortgage which became the major component of Financial Freedom, most recently worked for First National Bank of Layton to train its reverse mortgage phone originators and grow sales. Morris joins current Vice President of Lending Greg Block as he concentrates on the reverse mortgage market.
“With the appointment of Joe as a strong leader in Reverse Mortgages, coupled with our technological services, and customer commitment, Open Mortgage plans to move up the rankings and place ourselves in the top ten largest of reverse mortgage lenders,” said Scott Gordon, chief executive officer of Austin, Texas-based Open Mortgage.
Morris holds a seat on the board of the National Reverse Mortgage Lenders Association. He will be based in Georgia. The company has recently grown its branch model with the goal of growing to become a top-10 reverse mortgage lender and is currently licensed in 22 states.
