NeighborWorks Announces New Chief Operating Officer

NeighborWorks America, national housing non-profit and HECM counseling hub for Department of Housing and Development-approved agencies, today announced that is has named Charles “Chuck” Wehrwein its new Chief Operating Officer. 

In his role as COO, Wehrwein will oversee field operations, national initiatives and research, training, organizational assessment and information management. 

“Chuck’s experience and leadership—in public, private and nonprofit sectors—will enhance the ability of NeighborWorks America and the NeighborWorks network to help individuals and families around the country strengthen their housing and financial well being, and in the process build stronger neighborhoods one home at a time,” said NeighborWorks CEO Eileen Fitzgerald. “Moreover, Chuck’s track record of establishing successful partnerships in the public and private sectors will add momentum to our efforts to advance community development across the board.”

Formerly of Mercy Housing, Wehrwein has also held roles in the National Equity Fund, HUD’s multifamily division, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Housing Service. 

He reports to Neighborworks’ CEO.
