Milwaukee faces overload of foreclosed homes

Milwaukee, Wis., has 950 city-owned tax-foreclosed properties, which still does not include hundreds of real-estate owned foreclosures throughout the city, an article in the Journal Sentinel reports.

The overabundant amount of foreclosed properties is creating concern for the quality of life in many city neighborhoods, with some people drawing comparisons similar to Detroit, the article explains.

The city attempts to rehabilitate many of the properties in an effort to resell the homes. But Bauman said that, while the city’s intentions were good, it appeared the Department of City Development did not have adequate staff to properly market the available homes.
