HUD Using Social Media Tools to Connect and Increase Transparency

NewImage.jpgThe US Department of Housing and Urban Development is embracing social media by spreading news and information through tools like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube

“When you are seeking information, nothing is more frustrating than not being able to contact someone who can help you get answers to your questions,” said HUD’s web communications architect, Eileen Coleman. “We believe that communication and transparency are vital, and we are continuously working to improve our communication methods.”

The decision to embrace the different tools is part of its goal to streamline HUD’s web site contact tools to facilitate open communication and total transparency said the agency in a statement.

HUD’s YouTube channel currently features Lead Free Kids, a collaborative effort with the Ad Council about lead-based paint, and a short informational video about fair housing.  Additionally, users can stay connected with HUD via RSS feeds, HUD’s Facebook page, its Twitter account, the HUD Youtube Channel, the HUD wiki, and the recently launched HUD Mobile site.

You can subscribe to HUD’s RSS feeds and Twitter account to keep up on the latest reverse mortgage announcements.
