The Department of Housing and Urban Development last week announced the appointment of Charles Coulter to the position of Deputy Assistant Secretary in HUD’s single family program office. The position formerly held by Vicky Bott has direct leadership over the Home Equity Conversion Mortgage program.
Appointed by President Obama and Housing Secretary Shaun Donovan, Coulter most recently served as vice president for business transformation for Freddie Mac. His experience in housing, real estate and finance spans 20 years.
Acting Commissioner Carol Galante applauded the appointment in a letter to colleagues last week, touting Coulter’s work on single family business strategy for Freddie Mac, including an enhanced automated underwriting system.
“His innovations and entrepreneurial spirit are a perfect fit for the current state, and the future of Single Family,” Galante wrote.
