The Federal Reserve‘s balance sheet hit a new record this week on increased holdings of government debt and mortgage-backed securities, the central bank said.
The Fed’s balance sheet stood at $3.276 trillion this week.Additionally, the central bank’s holdings of Treasuries totaled $1.836 trillion.
Meanwhile, the Fed’s ownership of mortgage bonds guaranteed by Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and Ginnie Mae rose to $1.136 trillion.
