Obama meets behind closed doors to discuss next Fed chief

Decision expected in the fall

According to Bloomberg, President Barack Obama wants political breathing room as he sifts through a range of outstanding candidates to figure out who is best to lead the Federal Reserve.

For the Fed position, Obama said he’ll make a decision “in the fall” on a replacement for Bernanke, 59, Bloomberg reported.

Although Obama hasn’t raised the issue of the letter specifically, he wants political breathing room as he makes a final decision on Bernanke’s replacement, a person familiar with the issue told Bloomberg.
