Dan McAlister joined Clear Capital in 2009, beginning his tenure as a QA analyst and advancing to his current role as vice president of product management. In this role, McAlister is responsible for all of Clear Capital’s products, but his focus has primarily been on Universal Data Collection (UDC), the company’s suite of products designed to support Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac’s inspection-based valuation programs, and alignment with the Government Service Enterprise’s (GSE) new single data standard, Uniform Property Dataset (UPD). His work has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to modernizing appraisals and empowering lenders through tumultuous market conditions.

McAlister has consistently risen through the ranks during his time at Clear Capital, achieving the role of VP of product management in 2023. During his tenure, he has been instrumental in Clear Capital’s work alongside Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to refine and modernize the appraisal process. In March of 2023, McAlister was responsible for Clear Capital’s launch of Universal Data Collection (UDC), the company’s suite of products designed to support Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac’s inspection-based appraisal waiver programs, which he helped to spearhead, alongside Clear Capital’s additional efforts to support appraisal modernization. Most recently, McAlister has updated Clear Capital’s products to support the Uniform Property Dataset (UPD), the GSEs’ new single data standard which will be required for all new loan applications for Fannie Mae’s Value Acceptance + Property Data program and Freddie Mac’s ACE+ PDR solution starting April 1. 

McAlister has worked alongside Clear Capital as the company has worked to stay at the forefront of innovation in the mortgage industry. His work has demonstrated a long-term commitment to living by Clear Capital’s mission statement: strengthening communities and improving lives. He has been at the core of the development of Clear Capital’s valuation services which aim to strengthen communities by improving our customer’s confidence in their real estate decisions. McAlister’s continued work has been integral to the company’s ability to work towards its mission statement.

What is one habit that has helped you succeed?

Focusing on making the people around me successful, whether that be customers, folks on my team, or other colleagues has been a cornerstone of my success since day one at Clear Capital. As a product leader, you can’t go very far alone. Keeping the focus on helping the team improve, providing clarity, and removing roadblocks allows me and the rest of the team to accomplish incredible things together.
