With more than a decade of experience in the mortgage industry, Bryan Traeger serves as Maxwell’s managing director of corporate development, a role that allows him to identify and execute on opportunities that enhance the value Maxwell offers to the over 300 lenders on its platform. Since joining Maxwell in 2019, Traeger has worked to grow the Maxwell business while ensuring the acquisitions Maxwell pursues serve its goal of offering comprehensive, end-to-end solutions and services that help lenders thrive no matter the market conditions. In 2023, for instance, Traeger spearheaded the acquisitions of LenderSelect, a division of Blue Ridge Bank, and Revvin, a digital mortgage platform focused on customizable workflows, allowing Maxwell to expand its footprint even during a highly challenging market and, more importantly, adding key capabilities to help lenders combat market challenges.

While leading Maxwell’s corporate development function over the past few years, Traeger played a vital role in ensuring Maxwell’s continued growth and its ability to best serve its lender customers. In the current market cycle, lenders need effective technology more than ever — but as interest rates stagnate, loan volume lags, and lending costs creep, many providers are reducing their offerings. As they scale back their benefits or raise their prices, these providers cut into lender profitability. By successfully executing on key acquisitions, Traeger has allowed Maxwell to further its commitment to technology and services that help lenders combat market challenges. 

What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?

The best advice I’ve received from somebody I know is to always be kind and treat everybody well — even if you’ve been burned. Networks are constant and circular. Those you meet today might have a big impact on you later. You need people to open doors for you, and you must open doors for others.
