Syracuse about to sweep up 100 properties over delinquent taxes

A tax lien is one of the most powerful liens that can land on a home, and in Syracuse, they are challenging the future of 100 properties in the city.

As Syracuse.com reports, the city council has approved the seizure of roughly 100 homes for failure to pay back taxes. Unless the homeowners find the cash, the properties will go into tax foreclosure. The publication has more:

Over the summer, the Syracuse Common Council approved roughly 100 properties to be seized for back taxes, the first step in the city's plan to clean up a backlog of some 3,500 tax delinquent properties.

If the council approves tax foreclosures and the property owners don't pay at the last minute, the city will seize the properties and turn them over to the new Syracuse land bank.
