Consumer Credit Counseling Service (CCCS) of Greater Atlanta announced it has been approved as a national reverse mortgage counseling intermediary by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). As a result, each reverse mortgage lender in the U.S. will be required to provide their new clients a list of counseling agencies that includes CCCS of Greater Atlanta.
HUD recently implemented changes that require reverse mortgage lenders to provide clients with a list of 10 counseling agencies to choose from, including five national intermediaries designated by HUD, and five randomly selected HUD-approved agencies with offices in the client’s local geography.
“The new HUD designation gives reverse mortgage lenders an additional national nonprofit counseling agency that can provide their clients with professional counseling in a timely manner,” said Suzanne Boas, president of Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Greater Atlanta. “Homeowners coming to our agency can receive all of the information they need to fully understand all aspects of a reverse mortgage.”
Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Greater Atlanta is one of the largest nonprofit reverse mortgage counseling agencies in the country. They provide counseling service 24/7 and is available by telephone in English and Spanish.
The agency has more than 30 certified and experienced reverse mortgage counselors who are available seven days a week to conduct a counseling session. Due to the increased demand for reverse mortgages, the organization plans to hire additional counselors this year.
