With Real Estate Market Rising, Homeownership Interest Remains Strong

Americans still believe buying a home is a good financial decision by a wide margin—eight in 10—according to the results of a survey commissioned by the National Association of Realtors.

The annual Housing Pulse Survey indicates the environment for home sales and homeownership is stronger than in 2011, with less concern about jobs and foreclosures.

And homeownership remains paramount as the pace of home buying has picked up.

Of the 2,000 Americans surveyed, half of renters said owning a home is one of their highest personal priorities, up nine points from 2011.

The outlook remained strong, with 37% of respondents reporting they expect real estate sales to increase in the coming year.
