Urban Financial of America, LLC (UFA) on Monday announced Scott Norman will join the company’s growing retail division as vice president of sales.
Norman, an industry veteran and reverse mortgage advocate, led the original 1999 campaign to amend the Texas Constitution to allow reverse mortgages to be offered in the state when he founded the Texas Association of Reverse Mortgage Lenders.
The next year, in 2000, Norman closed the very first reverse mortgage loan in Texas. Since then, he has testified numerous times about reverse mortgage lending before the Texas Legislature.
In 2013, he was chairman of Texans for Proposition 5, which lobbied for a state constitutional amendment to allow reverse mortgages to be used for home purchases—an amendment which has since passed within the Lone Star State.
Norman’s industry experience also includes the position of president of the Austin Mortgage Bankers Association in 2005. Five years later, he was elected as the youngest president of the Texas Mortgage Bankers Association’s 97-year history, at age 41.
Most recently, Norman was vice president of Sente Mortgage’s reverse mortgage division in Austin.
“Our core values are client focus, integrity, teamwork, innovation, respect for each individual and responsible citizenship; which we believe Scott exemplifies,” stated Steve McClellan, president of UFA. “In addition, Scott’s advocacy for seniors is something we value greatly as well.”
In his role with UFA, Norman reports to Chief Sales Officer Sherry Apanay.
“We are delighted to have Scott leading our field retail team and our plans to strategically grow this channel,” stated Apanay. His extensive knowledge of and enthusiasm for the product have made him such an effective advocate for the industry, and for older homeowners. Scott’s energy and commitment are an excellent fit for our team, and his outstanding sales leadership abilities are a great asset.”
