Seniors Spend Significant Amount of Time Online

image A survey released by Harris Interactive compromised of 2,029 adults found that seniors are spending a significant amount of time online.

While still lacking behind other age groups, seniors over the age of 65 spend an average of 8 hours a week online, with only 4% of those surveyed saying they are online less than one hour a week.

Perhaps even more surprising, adults between the ages of 50 and 65 spend an average of 15 hours a week online, more time than the average of the 18-24 year olds surveyed.

However, it is interesting to note that seniors do not tend to shop online—either for products or services. Only 37% of those surveyed responded “yes” to the question, “Last month did you purchase any products or services over the Internet?” This compares to 50% of the overall survey respondents.

While the sample size in the survey is small, the survey still provides proof that more and more seniors are not only using the Internet, they are using it for a longer period of time.
