Reverse Mortgage Day of Texas to Explore Future Industry Landscape

The Texas Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) is inviting reverse mortgage professionals to gather at its annual conference this September for a day of collaboration and information on a variety of key industry topics.

On September 10-11, the Texas MBA will hold its 13th annual Reverse Mortgage Day at the Westin Galleria Dallas.

WIth the lending landscape changing daily, those attending will receive up to date information covering a variety of reverse mortgage topics ranging from the financial assessment to secondary market ethics, says Scott Norman, national retail sales vice president at Urban Financial of America, and one of the speakers at this year’s event.

“Over the last few years, Texas has been a bellwether state,” Norman says. “Leading lenders will come to the Lone Star State to seek strategic options and information about the business of reverse mortgage lending.”

Joining Norman in various panel discussions will be National Reverse Mortgage Lenders Association Chairman and CEO Peter Bell; Urban Financial President and CEO Steve McClellan; HUD Director of Single Family Program Development Karin Hill; Commissioner Caroline Jones of the Texas Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending, among many more.

Panel discussions will explore key reverse mortgage industry topics, including servicing updates, the future and current state of reverse mortgages, perspectives from Washington, D.C., along with a HECM for Purchase training session.

The conference’s September 11th occasion will also feature a keynote speaker session on “Remembering 9-11” from Brian Montgomery, vice chairman of The Collingwood Group and former assistant secretary of HUD.

To kickoff the event, Texas MBA will also grant the recipient of the fifth Jim Mahoney distinguished service award for the individual who has contributed significant work to the reverse mortgage industry in the past year.

The conference action begins with a cocktail reception September 10, with a full day of conferencing slated for the next day from beginning at 8am and concluding at 4:30pm.
