From consumer blogs to bank analyst notes, the “Ibanez” foreclosure ruling, and a companion case wrapped into it called “LaRace,” has been all the rage. But because the ruling is so new, its significance remains uncertain. Still, because it is a state supreme court ruling, it creates a precedent, and observers for the mortgage industry as well as homeowners’ advocates are carefully watching to see its potential effects.
