Jackson, Miss. Puts Residents on Direct Dial to CFPB

The second city to publicly announce a direct phone partnership with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Jackson Mississippi this week announced its residents can dial the CFPB directly through the city’s 3-1-1 non-emergency hotline.

Through the hotline, consumers can connect directly with the bureau when they have financial issues, or to submit a complaint or question about financial products or services.

“Our mission at the CFPB is to make it easier for consumers to navigate the complex consumer financial markets,” said Director Richard Cordray. “We are always looking for new ways to connect with consumers, and we are happy to work with Mayor Lumumba to better serve the residents of Jackson.”

The Bureau established a similar partnership with Boston in June, giving its residents access to the CFPB also by dialing 3-1-1.

“We understand the challenges that Jacksonians face on a daily basis when it comes to financial services such as loans, debt collection, and mortgages,” said Jackson Mayor Chokwe Lumumba. “We want to help our citizens become more aware of the financial options and services that are available to them, and what better way than to connect the City’s 311 system with the CFPB.”
