HousingWire wins SABEW award

REwired usually covers serious housing issues, but sometimes it's necessary to brag.

HousingWire received one of the coveted Best In Business awards from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers in the explanatory category for its February 2011 cover story: "The elephant in the room."

Reporter Jon Prior wrote the piece, which discussed what the future would hold for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, with reporting contributions from Jason Philyaw, Christine Ricciardi and Kerry Curry. Jacob Gaffney guided coverage and edited the piece.

More than 1,000 submissions were received for the contest, which handed out 200 awards across 89 categories. More than 200 working journalists and academics served as judges. Other winners include Bloomberg News, Financial Times, GlobalPost, CNNMoney and The Wall Street Journal.
