HousingWire was honored with a silver award by the Trade Association Business Publications International (TABPI) in its 2010 international Tabbies Awards. The May 2009 edition of HousingWire won in the best front magazine cover, digital imagery category. HousingWire is published monthly by Plano, Texas-based The LTV Group. “Since the launch of HousingWire magazine in September 2008, our company has endeavored to produce relevant and hard-hitting news in a format that is accessible and enjoyable to our readers,” said Paul Jackson, publisher and editor in chief of HousingWire, and CEO of parent company The LTV Group. “We are honored to receive this award and look forward to our continued service to the mortgage finance and real estate industries.”
The award-winning HousingWire cover, seen above, was published in May 2009 and was designed by art director Polly d’Avignon. In its critique of the cover: “The Next Ticking Time Bomb?” TABPI judges said: “The cover cleverly updates the image of a ticking timebomb for a hard hitting illustration.” “The cover demands attention with realistic illustration style combined with customized bright color. It achieves a balance of instilling alarm yet is safe and calm. Clean, sophisticated image and type treatment solidify a striking cover.” According to Cleveland-based TABPI, the seventh annual 2010 Tabbie editorial and design competition featured nearly 500 entries, with nominations coming from the US, Canada, the UK, India, New Zealand and South Africa. The contest is open to English language business-to-business publications worldwide, published at least quarterly. “We are delighted to receive this award. It is a privilege to be recognized among our industry peers for the tireless work of The LTV Group employees who produce HousingWire and REO Insider, along with their respective websites,” said Richard Bitner, HousingWire associate publisher and president of The LTV Group. “From our creative and editorial staffs to our marketing and sales teams, we all share in our appreciation of this honor.”
