U.S. Congress approved a 5-year extension to the National Flood Insurance Program, Fox News said Friday.
The program covers 5.6 million people, providing homeowners in flood prone areas with affordable flood insurance.
The program received several temporary extensions and finally received permission today to go for another 5 years.
