First Guaranty Mortgage Corp. named Mark Mayhook managing director of capital markets, foreshadowing the firm’s aggressive push into the capital markets channel. Mayhook will expand the McLean, Va.-based wholesale and retail lender’s capital markets group, which purchases and securitizes seasoned and new origination bulk whole loan portfolios. First Guaranty CEO Andrew Peters said Mayhook is “an advocate of common sense underwriting, and going beyond many of the guideline overlays used by most lenders.” Peters was promoted to chief executive in September. Mayhook has 10 years of experience in mortgage correspondence and trading. He managed private banking portfolios for Dutch bank ABN AMRO and worked in account management for the correspondent conduit of Morgan Stanley (MS) prior to joining First Guaranty. Write to Justin T.
