Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac notified lenders Wednesday that a new system will be available June 27 giving lenders the ability to upload appraisals electronically. The government-sponsored enterprises have been developing the Uniform Collateral Data Portal for some time. Appraisal reports for all conventional mortgages delivered to Fannie on or after March 19, 2012 must be submitted to UCDP if the loan was originated after Dec. 1, 2011. This, according to the guidelines, would give lenders nine months to adjust the system. Lenders and their agents can access the system through the web to upload and browse files, but some vendors offer systems than combine the GSE portal with a system the lender already has. The GSEs provided lenders with a list of the approved software. The companies will also provide job aids, training programs and other resources to help lenders learn the system over the next few weeks. Write to Jon Prior. Follow him on Twitter @JonAPrior.
