CIT Group (CIT), the bank holding company specializing financing for small businesses and middle-market companies, appointed Scott Parker as executive vice president and chief financial officer effective today. Parker reports to chairman and CEO John Thain. “Scott’s unique set of financial and operational skills coupled with his deep experience in the financial services sector will complement our senior leadership team and benefit our organization on a broad scale,” Thain said in a statement. “His many accomplishments in financial controls, portfolio management, operational efficiency and capital allocation will be invaluable as we advance CIT’s business objectives.” Parker will oversee financial operations including accounting, tax, treasury and investor relations departments. Most recently, he worked as chief operating officer and chief financial officer of Cerberus Operations and Advisory Co., an affiliate of Cerberus Capital Management. Before joining Cerberus in 2006, Parker spent 17 years in financial leadership roles within the industrial and financial services businesses at General Electric Co., most recently as the CFO of GE Capital Solutions. CIT also appointed Carol Hayles as senior vice president and corporate controller. She reports directly to Parker. Thain noted that her appointment “completes the leadership team” within CIT’s finance department. Hayles filled various finance roles at Citigroup (C) over the past 24 years, most recently as deputy controller. Write to Diana Golobay. Disclosure: the author holds no relevant investments.
