2018 Women of Influence: Susie Garza

Executive Vice President of Joint Venture Strategy and Licensing at PrimeLending

Susie Garza

Susie Garza, PrimeLending executive vice president and director of joint venture strategy and licensing, has been a major force in expanding PrimeLending’s joint venture line of business, an important channel for expanding the lender’s market share in the growing builder market. Under her leadership, PrimeLending successfully established two new joint ventures in 2017 and one additional joint venture so far in 2018.

Garza led the efforts to leverage the success of Highland HomeLoans to perfect a joint venture model that creates a streamlined approach for homebuilders to offer financing solutions to their customers. One of the key strengths of the refined joint venture model is speed. With nearly 20 years of experience in the joint venture space, she has displayed her unwavering determination and business acumen by rapidly advancing into leadership roles within the mortgage industry. Garza strives to make every joint venture partnership into a win-win opportunity for all parties involved—new homeowners, the homebuilder and PrimeLending.

Garza’s guidance and leadership is felt throughout the organization with her warm personality, as well as her natural ability to inspire confidence in her colleagues and employees. As someone who is truly passionate about the mortgage industry, she understands and promotes the concept that helping people achieve homeownership is more than simply providing four walls and a roof. She believes homeownership can be a catalyst for the growth and transformation of communities, and has the power to strengthen neighborhoods while positively impacting families by providing stability for generations.

During her tenure at PrimeLending, Garza has worn many hats and played a vital role in defining the company’s culture. Prior to her current role, some of her most influential positions have included serving as director of human resources, managing the risk department and building its comprehensive vendor management process and system from scratch.

Garza serves her community as a volunteer for local organizations, including the Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity and Meals on Wheels. Her leadership style is built upon her sincere gratitude for every opportunity she has received, and for the wonderful people in her life. As a leader, PrimeLending describes Garza as a lighthouse in the storm. She steers and guides her team to success while helping them navigate the inevitable challenges and complexities of the mortgage industry.

Her role as director of joint venture strategy and licensing also gives her the chance to help builder partners with many of those same challenges. With escalating government regulations and compliance requirements, she is determined to show builders how to overcome such obstacles.
