Castle & Cooke Mortgage, an independent mortgage lender, is expanding into consumer direct lending with the launch of a consumer direct team.
According to the company, the new team will work to “improve retention of clients in the company’s servicing portfolio and ensure the mortgage needs of all Castle & Cooke Mortgage's current borrowers are being met.”
Additionally, the consumer direct team will originate loans to consumers across Castle & Cooke Mortgage’s nationwide footprint.
According to the company, the consumer direct team will be staffed with loan originators licensed in all states in which Castle & Cooke Mortgage does business, and will work to provide consumers with access to conventional, FHA, VA and USDA purchase and refinance loans, renovation loans, energy-efficient mortgages, zero down payment options and other loan programs.
As part of the announcement, Castle & Cooke said that it hired Matthew Keyworth in late 2016 as managing director of consumer direct sales.
According to the company, Keyworth brings more than 15 years of mortgage industry experience to the role.
Most recently, Keyworth served as vice president of retail sales and channel management for PennyMac.

Castle & Cooke President and Chief Operating Officer Adam Thorpe said that Keyworth is the perfect choice to lead the consumer direct team.
