Stonegate Mortgage Corporation (SGM) announced the appointment of R. Douglas Gilmore to the position of chief information officer. In this position, Gilmore will oversee all information technology for Stonegate Mortgage, including origination, servicing and financing.

Gilmore will also lead the development of Stonegate Connect, a technology platform that will allow investors to connect with third party originators, creating an online marketplace that facilitates institutional investment in mortgages and mortgage-backed securities, the company said in a release.

“Doug's experience and background in technological development will be invaluable to our organization,” Stonegate Chief Executive Officer Jim Cutillo said.

“With an increased focus on Stonegate Connect and our desire to be the market leader in technology, we feel he's the ideal choice to fill the CIO position," Cutillo added.

Gilmore joins Stonegate from ChaCha Search Inc., where he was also chief information officer. Earlier in his career, Gilmore also held a number of senior executive positions with companies such as Bellwether, Gracenote and Haverstick Consulting.

"I am pleased to have the opportunity to combine my experience in the technical field with the initiatives of the Stonegate Mortgage team," Gilmore said. "Their commitment to serving customers through innovative strategy and progressive technology demonstrate Stonegate Mortgage's role as a leader in the mortgage industry."
