The house that Twitter sold

Agent gives house personality in more ways than one

There are countless ways to sell a home, but this new tactic by one agent might just be the perfect way to transform a house into a personalized home.

Meet Bob the House, a three-bedroom, one-and-a-half-bath ranch in the Chicago suburb of Mount Prospect, who is loyal to the Chicago Cubs and always tries to stay positive and bring hope to the world, at least according to his Twitter feed.

Rich Burghgraef, an account executive with sales consulting firm Randolph Sterling, created the account to get away from typical advertising tactics, using it to tweet about Bob’s journey on the market. And it worked.

The real estate industry is no stranger to Twitter. It’s a common place for agents to connect with buyers and sellers, along with linking back to houses they are showing.

But giving the home its own voice on Twitter is not as common.

The fun and best part is that it worked.

A blog from the National Association of Realtors said that home showings jumped from one or two a weekend to six and eight after the Twitter account debuted.

And of course, the home got its fairy-tale ending, with a family choosing to move in and call it home.

Here are several tweets from the house on its journey.
