Amalgamated Bank announced that it has chosen Tom Edmunds to lead its residential mortgage department. In this role, Edmunds has been tasked with leading growth of the bank’s residential lending platform for the New York City area.
Edmunds has also been charged with spearheading an expansion into the Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles metropolitan areas.
Edmunds brings more than 35 years of experience in mortgage banking to Amalgamated Bank. Prior to joining Amalgamated Bank, Edmunds was vice president and mortgage banker at Maryland-based Sandy Spring Bank.
“Tom’s tremendous knowledge of and experience in the housing world makes him a great asset as we expand our ability to help home owners access affordable mortgages,” said Keith Mestrich, Amalgamated Bank’s president and CEO.
Earlier in in his career, Edmunds also served as a vice president and regional production manager at HSBC Mortgage Corporation, where he was a member of the bank’s regional senior leadership team and was responsible for mortgage originations in the Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia markets.
