Here are the states with the priciest homes for sale

Most expensive home goes for $69M

For the well off and affluent, the housing market is still going strong, and lenders are quickly jumping on board to make sure they have the financing they need.

Back in May, HousingWire noted that luxury home sales are skyrocketing and are on pace to beat last year’s numbers, with the sale of the priciest 1% of homes up 21.1% so far this year.

While home sales are sluggish across the nation, Redfin reported that luxury home sales in 10 markets have already seen sales growth above 50% so far in 2014.

Movoto released a map of the most expensive homes in each state, with New York City nabbing the top spot for the most expensive home in America.

Located in Water Mill, New York, this early 20th century New York home, which overlooks Mecox Bay, has been updated, refurbished and loved into a jaw-dropping spectacle over the years, Movoto said.

According to the site, the house not only features a spiral staircase, sweeping dining rooms and lake-like pools, but it also has a carriage house and huge mansion bedrooms.

The catch: it costs a whopping  $69 million.
