Watch: NYU class of 2014 asked “Who is Janet Yellen?”

The answer might surprise you

Since I am constantly immersed in the world of housing, I might be the wrong person to gauge how well my fellow millennials understand the economy and housing market, but this video should do the trick.

I graduated high school in 2010, meaning I was traditionally supposed to graduate with the class of 2014. But obviously I did not and here I am today reporting on the housing market everyday. Some of us millennials are overachievers.

But it's graduation time for the rest of those on the "traditional" track. On Wednesday, Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen delivered a commencement address to the 2014 graduating class of New York University.

However, did the class have any idea who was speaking to them?

The answer might surprise you.

Meanwhile, this is the freshest crop of students walking into the real world, with an average student debt of about $20,000 in 2012.

And on top of that, the aggregate student loan balance reached $966 billion – just under a trillion – in 2012.

So watch the video from The Wall Street Journal to see just how well the NYU class of 2014 knew Yellen.

For a small clip of Yellen’s speech, watch the video below (Start at 1:35)
