Western Asset Mortgage Capital Corp. promoted Anup Agarwal to serve as chief investment officer of a REIT managed by the firm. The REIT trades under the ticker symbol, 'WMC'. Ken Leech is currently CIO of Western Asset itself.
Agarwal joined the company in July and was head of structured products.
He is taking over for Stephen Fulton, who is retiring after 13 years.
"We are pleased to welcome Anup as our new Chief Investment Officer," said Gavin James, CEO of Western Asset Mortgage Capital Corporation.
"Anup has a strong track record in mortgage funds and is well suited to lead our investment team,” he added.
