2026 Woman of Influence: Nykia Wright

Nykia Wright

Nykia Wright is chief executive officer of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR), where she leads the nation’s largest trade association representing nearly 1.4 million REALTORS®. Since assuming leadership during a period of significant industry and organizational change, she has focused on strengthening governance, financial discipline, transparency and member engagement.

Over the past two years, Wright has led a broad organizational transformation effort. Under her leadership, NAR adopted its first balanced budgets in more than a decade without increasing member dues and launched a three-year strategic plan built on extensive member input. The plan includes initiatives focused on compliance, risk management, operational efficiency and member satisfaction, with regular public reporting on implementation progress.

Wright has also overseen changes to NAR’s leadership structure, committee processes and member engagement efforts. She expanded outreach through broker summits, strengthened communication with members and helped modernize the association’s consumer-facing marketing initiatives. In addition, she has supported advocacy efforts related to housing supply, affordability and property ownership while guiding the organization through significant legal and regulatory developments.

Prior to joining NAR, Wright led the Chicago Sun-Times through a major organizational transformation and spent more than 15 years advising Fortune 500 companies and leading strategic initiatives. Through her leadership, NAR continues to evolve while working to strengthen trust, accountability and long-term value for its members.
