Michele Harrington, chief executive officer of FirstTeam®, oversees one of the largest independent real estate brokerages in California. A U.S. Marine Corps veteran and longtime real estate executive, she built her career around brokerage growth, agent development and operational leadership while helping shape the company’s long-term strategy and expansion efforts.
After beginning her real estate career following military service, Harrington founded Star Estates and grew the brokerage from two agents to more than 130 before merging with FirstTeam® in 2018. She subsequently served as senior vice president, broker of record and chief operating officer before being named chief executive officer in 2023, becoming the first woman to lead the company in its history.
Under Harrington’s leadership, FirstTeam® has experienced significant growth, increasing sales volume from approximately $5 billion to $6 billion while expanding its market presence and strengthening its agent support model. Her leadership philosophy emphasizes the company’s “Behind the Agent” approach, focusing on education, coaching and creating opportunities for agents to build sustainable long-term careers.
A key focus of Harrington’s work has been developing leadership pathways for agents and employees while strengthening accountability and operational consistency throughout the organization. She works closely with managers, team leaders and agents to create a culture centered on performance, collaboration and professional growth.
