Cindy Smaney is senior vice president of Servicing Operations at Freedom Mortgage, where she oversees compliance and controls, issues management, customer communications and loan onboarding. With more than 30 years of mortgage industry experience, she has built a career focused on operational excellence, process improvement and organizational growth across both originations and servicing.
Prior to her current role, Smaney played an instrumental role in building Freedom Mortgage’s Correspondent Lending channel into a multibillion-dollar operation. Today, she leads a team of more than 160 professionals responsible for supporting servicing operations for millions of homeowners. Over the past year, she directed the implementation of a new Customer Communications Management platform that transformed how the company delivers customer communications across print and digital channels. The initiative improved operational efficiency, accelerated delivery timelines and enhanced the customer experience.
Smaney also led initiatives focused on strengthening governance, credit reporting processes and compliance oversight. She helped establish and expand the company’s Business Process Testing and Controls team, providing enhanced visibility into operational performance, regulatory readiness and risk management.
