Steven McElroy has helped strengthen Newrez’s consumer direct sales organization by focusing on talent development, performance standards and borrower experience. As director of Strategic Growth, Consumer Direct, McElroy leads with a people-first approach while helping build a more disciplined and scalable sales foundation.
Over the past year, McElroy has been instrumental in recruiting, onboarding and developing more than 100 loan officers across the organization. A major part of that effort has been the creation and expansion of a comprehensive Loan Officer Academy designed to accelerate ramp-up, improve consistency and support a high-quality client experience from the start. His work has increased sales capacity while also improving the overall quality of the loan officer experience inside the organization.
McElroy’s leadership has centered on pairing strong performance expectations with hands-on coaching and mentorship. He has focused on building a sales culture that prioritizes long-term client relationships, thoughtful onboarding and sustainable growth rather than short-term production alone. One habit that has elevated my performance is committing to getting better every single day. I focus on controlling what I can control and executing at a high level regardless of market conditions. Small daily improvements drive real results and will separate good from great.
