Sarah DeFlorio brings a hands-on, client-focused approach to mortgage banking, combining production leadership, market insight and mentorship within William Raveis Mortgage. With a background in residential real estate sales, she understands the pace and demands of the business and works closely with clients across all price points and stages of the homebuying journey.
In January 2025, DeFlorio helped lead William Raveis Mortgage’s expansion into the Hamptons following William Raveis Real Estate’s acquisition of Town & Country. The move created new opportunities to grow through closer integration with the real estate business and direct access to top agents in the market.
Individually, DeFlorio is a consistent top producer while also helping manage one of the company’s top teams, the Melissa Cohn Group, which has produced nearly $1 billion since 2020. She also oversees the monthly production of an original-content newsletter focused on mortgage rate insights and analysis, content that is frequently reshared throughout the community.
DeFlorio is also active in education and mentorship, regularly speaking in continuing education settings for real estate agents and helping guide the next generation of mortgage brokers. Hundreds attend her classes, where she shares practical lessons drawn from real-world experience.
Outside of production, she is active in her local community. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Ellen Hermanson Foundation and as treasurer of LeTip Bridgehampton, where she remains a strong advocate for in-person networking and relationship building.
What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?
Do things that scare you. You are the only person getting in the way of your progress. Most of the time, even if things don’t turn out exactly how you planned, the growth and learning you experience far outweigh any negative consequences for trying something new. I had been working at a previous company in a different role for many years when the company was acquired. I was forced to leave the comfort of what I knew and take a chance with mortgages. While it was terrifying to make a career change in my early thirties when I thought I would be well established, it has truly been the biggest blessing and led to so much personal and professional growth. There was also concern about working with family, but that too has shown to be one of the most special benefits of the job: getting to be even closer with my mom, and to carry on the family tradition started with Manhattan Mortgage.
