Morgan Lyons has built herself into a key operational leader at Griffin Funding, rising from a college assistant to vice president of Closing in seven years. Along the way, she taught herself loan disclosures and doc drawing, then helped build those systems for the company from the ground up.
Over the past year, Lyons has remained central to Griffin Funding’s loan delivery engine as the company grew from 838 loans totaling $285 million in funded volume in 2024 to 1,261 loans totaling $415 million in 2025. That represented a 51% increase in units and a 46% increase in dollar volume, with her closing department supporting every transaction.
What began as a one-person function has grown into a full department that Lyons recruited, trained and developed herself. Today she leads a team responsible for disclosures, doc drawing, closing and post-closing, and her scope is continuing to expand as Griffin Funding builds out additional underwriting leadership under her oversight.
Lyons was also directly involved in negotiating a new warehouse line relationship that improved interest carry terms per loan, turning a traditional cost center into a stronger contributor to company performance. She additionally led the implementation of Optifunder, completing a complex loan origination software (LOS) integration designed to optimize warehouse line utilization and funding execution.
Known internally for speed, work ethic and reliability, Lyons has been voted by peers as both a Rising Star and Leadership Award recipient multiple times. Her leadership continues to shape Griffin Funding’s operational infrastructure and execution capacity.
What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?
The best piece of advice I’ve ever received came from my dad, and it wasn’t complicated: work hard, care about the quality of what you do and don’t let the people counting on you down. It sounds simple, but I’ve never needed anything more than that.
