Mark Schafer is chief financial officer of Stellar MLS. In this role, he has overseen financial strategy that has supported revenue growth, increased shareholder equity and positioned the organization for long-term sustainability. Under his leadership, Stellar MLS doubled revenue and increased shareholder equity by 350%, strengthening its financial foundation.
Over the past year, Schafer has guided operational stability and risk management initiatives, including transitioning the organization to expanded commercial insurance coverage with enhanced cyber and liability protections. He also led the conversion of the company’s headquarters into a fully leased asset to support long-term financial stability and maximize property value. In parallel, he modernized financial operations by implementing AI-powered accounts payable tools and replacing a legacy billing system with a secure, scalable external solution. He has also overseen more than $5 million in technology investments to reinforce operational performance and financial security.
Schafer works closely with executive leadership and volunteer leaders to support organizational growth, expanding the shareholder base and serving more than 80,000 real estate professionals. He has also supported professional development initiatives and industry education through involvement with the Council of Multiple Listing Services certification program.
