Sara Davis, executive vice president and chief people officer at Freedom Mortgage, has spent over a decade aligning human resources more closely with business strategy. Since joining the company in 2012, she has led efforts to integrate HR into daily operations, improve employee engagement and support company growth through thoughtful talent development.
Over the past 18 months, Davis has focused on strengthening the company’s internal culture — particularly important as many employees continue to work remotely. She introduced anonymous surveys to gather feedback, assess employee engagement and identify opportunities for improvement. These insights helped inform updates to Freedom Mortgage’s career development resources and internal communications.
Davis also played a key role in relaunching the company’s training program for recent college graduates, now known as the HYPE program. The updated curriculum prepares new hires for careers in mortgage lending and aims to create a pipeline of future leaders. In the past year alone, nearly 300 participants were hired, with more expected to join this summer.
In addition to early-career development, Davis has expanded Freedom Mortgage’s leadership training. The RISE program offers tailored tracks for aspiring managers, new supervisors and experienced leaders — earning national recognition for its design and impact.
Before her current role, Davis led enterprise vendor management, overseeing thousands of contingent workers and identifying millions in cost savings. Throughout her tenure, she has focused on building HR into a true business partner — one that not only supports but drives progress across the company.
