Melanie Graper is the chief human resources officer at loanDepot, where she leads the company’s people strategy and culture initiatives. With more than 20 years of experience in the housing industry, she has focused on building organizational capability, improving employee engagement and increasing retention. In 2024, she introduced several key programs that aimed to create a stronger connection between team members and the business, including Success Shares, an equity grant program that made nearly all employees shareholders in the company.
Graper also launched the company’s first Women in Leadership Program, an eight-week development track designed to support the growth of high-potential female leaders, as well as the loanDepot Leadership Academy, a partnership with the Center for Creative Leadership to strengthen senior leadership capabilities. She led the redesign of the company’s Vision, Mission, and Values, introducing a set of Leadership Principles known as “Life in 4D” that have been integrated into employee recognition and development platforms.
Beyond the workplace, Graper expanded loanDepot’s community involvement through partnerships with the American Heart Association, including leading support for the Go Red for Women campaign. She also serves on the AHA’s western region board and is a member of the advisory panel for the SMU Women in Leadership Program.
Her work has contributed to increased internal mobility, improved employee engagement and stronger alignment between individual performance and company goals. As loanDepot navigates a competitive talent landscape, her initiatives have positioned the company to better attract, retain and support its workforce.
